II am new to Dixon Middle school and Onslow Co. Schools this year.

I am happy to join such a great team of educators and glad to be back in the classroom. I look forward to meeting all of you this year.

My background includes working in education for 7 years in many roles. I was a TA, Counselor, Behaviorist and am now an EC Teacher. I have taught in a day treatment classroom, resource classes, and general ed classes. I have many years experience working with middle school students. 

​

I want you to know I manage a positive and upbeat classroom as I enjoy spending time with all of you. I have many years experience supporting our youth with Social, Emotional, and Behavior challenges. I enjoy this job because I understand middle school is a trying time for students and I genuinely like to influence them in becoming a version of their best selves.

Fun facts about me are: I am from Montana, I met my husband in the Bahamas, I graduated from the State University of NY at Albany. I have a son attending NC State and a son who is working for Honda in robotics.

Additionally, I don't require many school supplies. Please send the basics such as pencils, erasers, a notebook, a folder, colored pencils and a highlighter. Students can store supplies in my classroom to avoid packing around heavy backpacks. Just label their supplies so I can keep track of them. 

​

I use a behavior management website designed for classrooms. It teaches team work and rewards proper behavior. Students love it as it is a game we can use for making some assignments fun. Students can work in teams. It is called Classcraft. I will supply parent log ins where you can check on your child's behavior.  The site also also allows me to take points for poor behaviors. I control the game so class cooperation is the only way they earn play time on breaks. It is school friendly, positive, motivates students to engage in class and teaches positive behavior choices.

I will be adding links here for easy access to my class resources. Some of my students are struggling with computer use. Therefore, I will send home paper assignments for them. I will inform you so you will know what to expect and can remind your children what they need to work on during at home learning days. I will post times I am teaching online and available to answer questions.

It takes a team! I look forward to meeting all of you and working with you to provide a positive learning experience for your children. I am happy to keep the lines  of communication open as we build our classroom community. I encourage regular communication among us.
